 MITACS Proseminar with Oba Harding (Director, Business Development)

 MITACS is a national not-for profit research organization that aims to train the next generation of innovators in Canada through unique programs including: the Accelerate (research internships for graduate students with an industry partner), Elevate (post-doctoral fellowships) and Step (free professional development courses to help with managing projects, networking, and presentation skills among others) programs. This proseminar is an opportunity for archaeology graduate students and faculty to learn about MITACS programs and the opportunities available through this organization. This talk will be followed by an informal questions and discussion period.

The Fall 2011 Proseminar is scheduled for Mondays at 1:30-2:30 in SWH 9152.
The steering committee that organizes the proseminnar is Ross Jamieson, Louise Williams, Beth Mathews, and  Jason Moore.   Contact anyone on the committee if you have proseminar ideas, scheduling questions, etcetera.

The Archaeology Graduate Student Proseminar is a weekly meeting which allows for the graduate students to get together and discuss their research progress and challenges, learn from other students experiences and set goals to meet for future meetings.  While Proseminar meetings will be held weekly, additional Guest Speaker Proseminar meetings will be held where a speaker is invited to lead a presentation and discussion on topics deemed important by the Archaeology graduate student cohort during the regular Proseminar meetings.
